THE TRADITIONAL FUNERAL

The funeral director will take care of the removal of the deceased from the place of death, and obtain the Medical form, prepare the Registration of Death form and Burial permits, do the embalming, casketing, transportation of the deceased. The funeral director will ask the family their wishes regarding the service and take care of ordering the flowers, preparing memorial notices, acknowledgment cards and other services the family may want. The family may request special music or songs. The service may include a eulogy by a friend or family member or a favorite scripture. Every funeral is different, the funeral director is available to make suggestions and work with the family to create a meaningful service. Costs depend on the services provided and the individual casket chosen. There may be extra charges for the cemetery or crematorium, mileage beyond a certain limit, flowers, clergy and music honorarium, transportation if a common carrier is involved, funeral announcements, telephone billings and other things. The family may want an opportunity for a viewing of the deceased. It can be most helpful in accepting the fact that death has occurred, especially to the immediate family. Seeing is believing. The family and funeral director should both talk with the member of the clergy conducting the religious ceremony. If there is an open casket viewing the family may want the casket closed before the worship begins, so thoughts can be focused to the spiritual.
