THE PRE-ARRANGED SERVICE

Pre-planning funeral arrangements and making a Will is helpful in easing the transition after a death. The next of kin or executor of the estate is not bound by law to carry out explicit wishes of the deceased, but this is usually done. It is best to make pre-planning decisions that are flexible. The pre-arranged planning guide will be a great help in giving the survivors a sense of direction, while also giving them the opportunity for changing some of the plans. The Last Will and Testament is extremely important and a legal will should be drawn up to avoid needless misunderstanding. The Will is often read after the funeral, so it is best to talk with the family and funeral director about the Will, keeping it in a known place. Things to consider carefully when pre-arranging or pre-financing a funeral are:
1. The possible effect on survivors.
2. The death may not take place for many years.
3. Plans must be largely on a tentative basis.
4. Be certain that any money paid in advance can be returned if you desire.
5. The pre-planner should talk about their wishes with their family.
